The RH 9000 Series Fastener
Torque Tension Load Cells are ideal for auditing and analyzing threaded
fastener characteristics in production lot testing or in research
and development studies!
Often referred to as a
Research Head, this load cell is two transducers in one: a strain
gage bridge to measure the clamp load generated when the fastener
is tightened, and a thread torque bridge to measure the amount of
torque seen by the nut.
By breaking out the thread
torque data from the torque applied to the fastener, you can calculate
the underhead torque, as well as friction coefficients for underhead
and thread areas of the bolted joint.

This
complete line of the fastener testing load cells provides a signal proportional
to the tension developed in a test fastener when the tightening torque
is applied. In addition, the torque-tension version measures the thread
torque (pitch torque plus thread friction torque) at the same time.
The tension or torque-tension output signals from the load cell are
read using a conventional strain gage readout device or recorded by
a data acquisition device. These load cells also can serve as an integral
part of a torque-angle-tension fastener test system when used with a
torque-angle sensor and a data acquisition instrument. Recommended is
the Model 3200 LabMaster Professional Series
from RS Technologies, Ltd.
